Dylan Sinclair
Dylan Sinclar is singing about love. If you're feeling left out, whether that's from your parents or friends, Home is the song for you. Sit down with something warm to drink and listen to the lyrics. His voice will bring you comfort. His music style is R&B/Jazz mixed with Daniel Caesar, Sabrina Claudio and a little Billie Holiday. You won't be disappointed. I encourage you to listen to his EPs and his debut album Proverb. Check him out before he blows up. He's gonna be one of those artists you want to say “I knew him first.”
Jovan Perez
Jovan Perez started off doing incredible covers on Youtube, in fact he still does. He only has three singles out. Addicted, Feel Again, and Lights out. Sulking in your own loneliness is what he sings about. His voice deep but dainty helps you levitate you into the music. If you’re into acoustic guitar, check him out.
Brandon Banks
If your name is Lucy, I’m jealous of you. Brandon Banks sings a funky lullaby for a girl named Lucy. his sound brings you back to a warm summer day. You may have got your heart broken by the one you love but put on Brandon Banks and you will feel content with it. Accept yourself when listening to him. This music is soul and it came from one too. His EP Static came out in March 2020 and I would recommend.
Jword
Doing your homework is gonna get a lot easier because of Jword. He makes the perfect slow jams that will make you focus on your loved one or if you’re alone he's also great to focus on work. The first two chords of Unlimited Hours wakes you up. He has dropped a lot of singles in the past few years. We are still anticipating his album.
Sunhi
We are early for this one. This young talented singer has only one single. Yes I said one but she deserves a following. She's inspired by Jhene Aiko, she does bring a little edge of her own. Remedy her one song came out a few days ago. I can’t wait to hear what else she sings and especially can’t wait to see what kind of music videos she'll make. She is a young black girl who is gonna make a name for herself. I guarantee it.
Meet Me @ The Altar
If you never got to have your moment in an early 2000s movie, this is it. Grunge bands were a big hit back in the 2000s. No Doubt, Greenday, My Chemical Romance. Black girls never got to have their moment in that grunge seen, well Meet Me @ The Altar is changing that. This three piece band is the shit. Making head bunding music for black girls. Garden is my favorite song right, if you need to dance and scream in your room there music is for you. Playing air guitar and jumping on your bad yup they’ll make you feel like doing it. They are making anthems so soon in their career and I love it. Two EPs and three singles, please check them out.
